Prepare your songwriter brief ↓
A song commission suits a close relationship, a milestone or a memory you want to keep. You do not need to know their equipment. You do need enough personal detail to give the songwriter something specific.
If they would rather choose an album or go to a show, a recording about them may not be the right surprise. Listen to examples and consider whether they enjoy personal, sentimental gifts.
